Call for more women in public life - McKay in Sligo

National Women's Council of Ireland Director Susan McKay called again for more women in public life in Ireland at a Nollaig na mBan (Women's Christmas) event in Sligo recently. Ms McKay stressed that women make up 50% of the population but their public representation is actually falling.
"We must address this issue across the board. Public life will benefit enormously from the strengths and abilities of a wide range of women, in the Dáil, sitting on boards, in companies. Men and women need to be together and work together to build a stronger country," she said.
